An Idea You Can't Kill
"You have to create an idea you can't kill," says Professor George Foster AM, the Konosuke Matsushita Professor of Management at Stanford University.
Professor Foster knows what he's talking about. This engine of entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley, Stanford alumni and faculty have created more than 39,000 companies, including iconic innovators such as Google and Tesla. The AmCham Innovation Trade Mission and Study Tour to Silicon Valley, California and Denver, Colorado this month visited Stanford, Google,, and Tesla among many other icons of innovation.
From driverless cars to supersonic planes, the delegation visited more world-leading companies including Microsoft, Nvidia, Boom Supersonic, PsiQuantum, Palantir, and institutions like the Colorado School of Mines, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to hear from the innovators and entrepreneurs creating ideas that can't be killed.
In California, we heard from US Ambassador to Australia (2019-2013) and Australian Consul-General Odette Hampton, and in Colorado the group met with Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera, Mayor of Denver Mike Johnston, Australian Honorary Consul-General James Waddell, and Ambassador Thomas Dougherty (Ret.) for a diplomacy and policy download among the intense innovation agenda.

A key message of the program was to collaborate and get support. The best way of doing that is face-to-face, and AmCham's core mission is to provide access to these opportunities at home and abroad.
Closer to home, our own world-leading innovators are preparing for the AmCham Alliance Awards Gala, where we will celebrate exceptional and emerging talent in key sectors. This month, AmCham was delighted to announce the Finalists in the six industry categories as well as the Ambassador's Award, which you can view here. We hope you will join us for the spectacular Gala on October 25 in Sydney.
