Maryland Governor Larry Hogan led a delegation of state leaders to study the innovative ways Australia has implemented and funded infrastructure projects. It was the first international mission of the NGA Chair's Initiative, Infrastructure: Foundation for Success.

The delegation toured sites including the Sydney Opera House (top), Port Botany (bottom left), WestConnex (bottom right) and Martin Place Metro station. The sites represented different ways Australia has served as a leader in infrastructure development and financing. For example, Port Botany is one of the first major examples of asset recycling in New South Wales

The delegation met with Australian current and former premiers and chief ministers in subnational exchange discussions to share best practices and learn from their counterparts.

Finally, state leaders presented opportunities for economic development in their states to an audience of Australian business representatives at an event hosted by the American Chambers of Commerce in Australia, the American Australian Association and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission.
