ABOUT THE EVENT

In January this year, Meta announced that it will discontinue third-party fact-checking on Facebook, Threads and Instagram. Fact-checking was a way to curtail the spread of mis-information through the platforms after Facebook was accused of contributing to a torrent of fake news and conspiracy theories around the time of the 2016 US election.

Chief Executive, Mark Zuckerberg posed that fact-checkers led to censorship and that he wanted to support free speech and take a lighter hand in content moderation.

Social media platforms rely heavily on artificial intelligence to drive content that connects with end users.

How will the community qualify the information from social media so that it can be used safely and to ensure content is meaningful? AI has no conscience.

Join the conversation with AmCham and hear from our experts about the issues of fairness, productivity, democracy and the role that AI, in all its forms, will have on our lives.
