About the Webinar

AmCham and the Emerging Payment Association Asia (EPA Asia) are collaborating in a three-event series looking at the effect COVID-19 has had on the financial service industry and how financial technology firms are living through these unprecedented times.

Financial Technology (FinTech) is at the centre of digital product and service delivery advances across many industries. Australian companies are constantly adopting and applying fintech solutions to grow their businesses, create jobs and provide the services demanded by their customers.

In part-three of this webinar series we present Alex (Sandy) Pentland of MIT Connection Science in conversation with Dr Prash P, CEO and Founder, Caleb and Brown. Moderated by Camilla Bullock, Co-Founder and Director, Emerging Payments Association Asia. Their discussion will cover what is happening around the world with cryptocurrency and what governments are doing, or not doing, to ensure they keeping across technology and providing solutions for digital privacy, cybersecurity and transparency.

We are experiencing a brave new world where our traditional methods for trading are being replaced by blockchain. People around the world are realizing that AI-driven capitalism requires crafting a new sort of social contract, and the balance must be restored by constructing institutions and laws that control rights, ownership, and use.

What role will Australia play, if any, in Creating a Credible and Trusted Digital Currency for this region?

In addition to our webinar series, FinTech Australia has partnered with Tier One People to launch a FinTech Talent Market in response to increasing job losses during the COVID-19 crisis. The marketplace, run through LinkedIn Groups, aims to connect people in the FinTech community who have lost their jobs to FinTech companies with jobs. Apply to join the programme.

His discourses and writings on both these libertarian passions are freely available via his non-exclusive, open-source, failure-to-opt-out partnership with Google.
