EDUCATION AND GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dawn Freshwater, UWA
About the Event
A Vice-Chancellor has to have an international sensitivity. We engage globally; we think globally. Australian universities study global issues; our students come from across the world, representing 120 countries.
One of the challenges facing the world is that of the shifting geo-economic, geo-political and geo-academic power relationship between the United States and China. It affects everybody.
Join AmCham as Professor Dawn Freshwater shares her perspective, as both the Vice-Chancellor of The University of Western Australia and the Chair and Director of the Group of Eight, Australia’s leading research-intensive universities, on the role and position of universities as the relationship between the United States and China develops and unfolds. How could this developing relationship affect your business and mold future business practice?
For UWA, as we develop our UWA 2030 vision, with particular focus on our position at the fulcrum of the Indian Ocean Rim, it is a complex and fascinating issue.
The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) represents business; providing networking opportunities, valuable support for emerging industries, and helping to establish business networks and commercial partnerships. Through AmCham’s advocacy work, the chamber works to improve the efficiency and strength of the business sector to build a strong and prosperous economy.
