LICENCE TO OPERATE-DRIVEN FROM THE BOARDROOM

Bronwyn Barnes, Non-Executive Director, MOD Resources Ltd (ASX: MOD)

About the Event

The role of a board is continually evolving, with greater emphasis being brought to bear on issues that are broader than the financial performance of a Company. Boards are now expected to proactively manage their Company’s social licence to operate and have oversight of engagement with key stakeholders. In the current business environment local community acceptance plays a large role in influencing how not just individual businesses but entire industries go about conducting business. When an organisation begins to lose its social licence to operate what often follows is not just devastating financial outcomes but also legal and operational impacts.

Join AmCham as Bronwyn Barnes offers her advice on how your business can better engage with stakeholders using her experience as Board lead for Sustainability at MOD Resources. As a Non-Executive Director of MOD, Bronwyn Chairs the Remuneration and Nomination Committee, the Audit Committee and the Community Liaison Council for MOD’s exploration and development project in Botswana.

MOD Resources has been implementing a new model to address how the board at MOD can better address community and government relationships and have positive engagement on challenges that arise from developing a new copper mine in the middle of a farming community.

The local community can make or break businesses so have you considered how your business is engaging with the community?
