The Mission will commence with a breakfast briefing, followed by an all-day tour of the most innovative facilities including: 

Lendlease

Barangaroo Underground City. Tour the underground basement of Australia’s first carbon neutral precinct.

See firsthand the Barangaroo precinct’s mechanical, electrical, hydraulic & controls contractors monitor & action over 1,000,000 live data points from the precinct’s 40+ management systems in what is often referred to as ‘global best practice of intelligent precinct management.

Things you will see:

District Cooling Plant – 8 chillers serving chilled water to each of the current & future buildings of Barangaroo South
Precinct waste & recycling  – consolidates & recycles approximately 80% (5 Tonnes / day) of the waste captured from the 120+ floors of offices & 70 retailers of the precinct
Recycled water plant – to recycle water for flushing of all the bathrooms in the precinct & is capable of producing more water than the precinct uses.
End of trip facilities – 1,200 lockers, 1,100 bike racks & 132 showers

 

University of Sydney 

The Biomedical Engineering at Sydney Uni. Did you know that Sydney Uni has a new biomedical engineering community consisting of Sydney Bionics; Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Labs in Biomaterials? Join our Innovation Mission to experience State-of-the-Art 

plasma deposition techniques, 
an experimental and fabrication unit for Electroceuticals and Bio implantables, and 
new techniques for bio printing. 

The Sydney Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Systems where we’ll witness autonomous and intelligent robots and systems with applications towards:

agriculture and the environment, 
intelligent transport systems, 
mining and marine systems and 
security and defence.

The Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel. Check out this leading-edge facility that studies atmospheric flows designed to conduct experiments for:

dispersion in urban flows, 
wind loads on buildings, 
wind energy, 
fluid-structure interaction and 
atmospheric turbulence.

The Immersive Learning Laboratory (lmmLL). See where academics from Engineering are teaching, using immersive content based on interactive 360° videos of real environments and constructed virtual realities. Powered by the latest virtual reality technologies, the new ImmLL is the largest of its kind in Australia and boasts equipment including 26 high-powered PCs and Oculus Rift headsets - the largest number of devices housed in any Australian educational institution! Immerse yourself and try out their Oculus Rift devices to interact in virtual reality environments. by tracking their head movements to provide stereoscopic 3D imagery. Experience real-time user testing with eye-tracking devices, microphones, cameras and heat-mapping technology.
