About the Panellists

Maurice Ben-Mayor, President, Stryker South Pacific

Maurice Ben-Mayor has more than 20 years of experience in the Medical Technology sector. He is president for Stryker South Pacific, a position he has held since 2015. Prior to this, Maurice spent seven years serving in a number of director roles within Stryker’s sales and marketing divisions. Maurice originally joined Stryker as a marketing manager in 2003. Prior to Stryker, Maurice worked as a sales representative for medical devices company, Synthes. Maurice is passionate about innovative technology, developing people and building high-performing cultures. Maurice holds a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and an MBA, both from The University of New South Wales. He is also a current board member of the Medical Technology Association of Australia.

Kathy Connell, Senior Director New Ventures ANZ, Johnson and Johnson Innovation

Kathy Connell has a clinical, academic, commercial and legal background with more than 25 years cross-sector experience including in the pharmaceutical, medtech, biotechnology, academia and hospital industries. Today she is responsible for implementing Johnson and Johnson Innovation’s external partnerships and growth strategy across Australia and NZ for pharmaceuticals, medical device and consumer health. Kathy’s remit is to identify, assess and establish early stage collaborative research, licensing and investment opportunities to
support Johnson & Johnson’s global R&D pipelines. Passionate about encouraging and building global collaborations to deliver new and disruptive healthcare solutions, Kathy works closely with university, government, venture capital and industry stakeholders to identify novel ways of engaging with innovation communities to help drive and build bio-economies across Australia and NZ. These activities are undertaken with the joint objectives to develop sustainable and long-term sources of healthcare innovations and deliver healthcare solutions to patients globally.

Pat Williams, Managing Director ANZ, Edwards Lifesciences Pty Ltd

Patrick Williams, MB Marketing Management, is managing director, Australia and New Zealand, Edwards Lifesciences. Prior to his current role, Williams was responsible for the Critical Care ANZ business. Before joining Edwards Lifesciences, Williams has served in a number of roles in Medtronic. He was a business director Cardiovascular (2008-2011), business manager – ENT & Neuro Technologies (2004-2008), business manager ENT (2000-2004) and product manager (1996-2000).  Prior to that, Williams was a Sales Rep with American Cyanamid. Williams received a diploma in Education and Teaching from Catholic College Education in Sydney, and a master’s degree in business major in Marketing/Marketing Management, General from University of Technology Sydney.

Andrew Wiltshire, Senior Director Corporate Affairs, Medtronic ANZ

Andrew’s Career with Medtronic spans 19 years. For the past four years in his current role Andrew has had responsibility for a range of functions including; Government Affairs, Healthcare Economics and Reimbursement, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs in Australia and New Zealand. In addition Andrew represents the Asia region on the Medtronic Global Regulatory Council. 

Previously Andrew spent three years as General Manager Medtronic Neuromodulation ANZ. Other roles include; Vitatron Business Manager ANZ, CRDM Education and Training Manager ANZ, and Queensland CRDM/CV Territory Manager. Prior to joining Medtronic Andrew worked in a sales role with Bristol Myers-Squibb Pharmaceuticals, and has also worked in a human resources management role in the hospitality Industry, and as a Registered Nurse. 
Andrew originally trained and worked as a Registered Nurse and subsequently gained a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies and Media Production and holds a Masters of Business Administration majoring in Marketing and Human Resource Management. Andrew is a Director of Medtronic Australasia Pty Ltd, Medtronic New Zealand Ltd and the Medical Technology Association of Australia.
