Ian Irving
Chief Executive, Naval Shipbuilding Institute
Ian Irving is a well known and high profile Australian Defence & National Security Industry senior executive.
Ian has more than 30 years’ experience at senior executive levels within the Australian defence and aerospace industry, and in 2019 was appointed as the Chief Executive of the Naval Shipbuilding Institute, responsible for the delivery of Australia’s Naval Shipbuilding College.
Most recently Ian was Chief Executive for Northrop Grumman Australia, with responsibility for leading the development of Northrop Grumman within Australia, taking the company from inception to one of the major ongoing contributors to Australia’s national security capabilities.
In 2011 Ian established ALTILUS, a management and professional services consultancy serving the government and the defence sector, where he held responsibility for the conduct of life-cycle governance gate reviews for the Defence Department on Australia’s major defence acquisition programmes. Ian was also assigned responsibility as the Commonwealth’s Lead Technical Negotiator for the successful $1.4B acquisition of Australia’s future military logistics vehicles.
Ian has also held responsibility as Vice President, Land Systems and deputy Chief Executive officer at Thales Australia, where he held various leadership positions over a period spanning twelve years. Including responsibility for the management of Australia’s armaments and munitions factories and the development of Australia’s local protected military vehicle capability. This was preceded by eleven years with Rockwell and Boeing Australia.
Starting his career in the naval domain Ian has held technical and leadership responsibilities for projects and product development in naval combat systems, naval and airborne sonar, aerospace systems, helicopter avionics, mission system and platform simulation, training services, military protected vehicles, C4I systems, armaments, explosive ordnance systems, logistics support services, and autonomous aircraft systems.
Over the last three decades Ian has held senior positions within industry across many of Australia’s major land, sea and air defence procurement and sustainment programmes. This has included responsibility for the delivery of major defence systems, the conduct of leading edge research and development, and the establishment of industrial capabilities delivering key defence exports for Australia. In 2018 Ian was selected by his peers as the Chair of the peak Australian defence industry body, the Australian Industry Group (AiG), Defence National Executive Council.
Ian is an Honours graduate in Electrical Engineering from Sydney University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of The Sir Richard Williams Foundation, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Rafael Moyano
Chief Executive Officer, The Adecco Group, Australia
Rafael Moyano is the CEO for The Adecco Group in Australia which houses the Adecco, Modis (formally Ajilon), Spring Professional, General Assembly and Pontoon Solutions brands.
Rafael is an accomplished staffing recruitment and IT consulting professional, with a passion for technology and talent. With business experience gained across Europe and Asia Pacific, Rafa leads a community of the world’s most outstanding minds, expertise and network of professionals across an extensive industry portfolio.
Rafael joined The Adecco Group in 2006 and since then has held several Executive leadership positions, most recently as the Chief Financial Officer for The Adecco Group across Asia Pacific. Rafael also holds the title of Managing Director, Modis Australia concurrently with his role as CEO for The Adecco Group Australia.
Rafael’s finance career began in 1997 after receiving his master’s degree in economics from the Complutense University in Madrid, Spain. Rafael later went onto IE Business School to earn an MBA before graduating in 2004.
Rafael is an experienced business and finance leader and, in his capacity, has added considerable value to both strategic direction and financial planning in eleven diverse countries across the region. Prior to joining The Adecco Group, Rafael was a manager at Deloitte for 8 years (1998 – 2006) before moving to Human Group to take on the position of Director of Corporate Finance for 3 years (2006 – 2009).
Rafael has been the President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Japan, an association that is set up in conjunction with other Spanish business leaders to support Spanish/Japanese business relations. He is married with two children, enjoys playing soccer and tennis and has a passion for strategic excellence. Rafael brings extensive global experience to the operations at The Adecco Group Australia.
Amy Walker
Chief Human Resources Officer, Visy
Amy Walker is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Visy and is responsible for Visy and its related entities encompassing industrial relations, capability, remuneration & benefits, talent acquisition, people related insurances and human resource functions since her promotion into the role of Chief Human Resources Officer in 2016.
Amy has a long history with the business, moving through numerous group Human Resources and Industrial Relations roles since April 2010.
Visy is a global leader in the packaging, paper and resource recovery industries. Operating in more than 120 sites throughout Australasia with trading offices across Asia, Europe and USA and employing more than 5000 employees, the business delivers high quality, innovative and sustainable packaging products and solutions.
Prior to her move to Visy, Amy worked with CEVA / TNT Logistics, Stamford Hotels and Resorts, and Phillip Morris.
Amy has a Business and Communications Degree from Monash University (2002) and also completed a number of post graduate courses in Corporate Governance and related fields.
Govert Mellink
Director, PwC
Govert has over 20 years consulting experience. He is a director in our Digital Transformation practice in Adelaide. Before moving to Adelaide earlier this year he led a significant number of large-scale transformation projects for the Department of Defence and for other public service clients. These include the Defence Infrastructure Transformation program, the Royal Australian Air Force, Joint Health Command, and Australian Public Service Commission.
He has a broad international background and has worked in Australia, the Netherlands and Hong Kong. His career started as a performance auditor at the Royal Netherlands Court of Audit 1992. Govert has been involved in numerous IT driven transformations aimed at driving new ways of working and productivity & performance enhancement engagements. His core competencies are: building strong client and stakeholder relationships through his style of co-design and stakeholder expectations management.
In his spare time, he likes to play the drums, is dedicate to his two board positions in the Arts and enjoys cooking for family and friends.
