'Showcasing authentic experiences'

AmCham Business Luncheon

About the Event

The tourism industry is one of the most competitive industries worldwide and is also one of the backbone economic sectors of Queensland, supporting more than 217,000 Queensland jobs^.

This year, regional and outback tourism have been the focus of Queensland Government, and the emerging Indigenous tourism operators in local SEQ communities have been growing from strength to strength.

Indigenous tourism experiences are a point of differentiation for Australia in a highly competitive global market. How can Queensland create an environment conducive to stimulating Indigenous tourism product? What can we learn from Indigenous success in the USA? In North America, Indian communities are among the most popular tourist attractions. The American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA), a national organisation that helps Native American, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian tribes and communities to advance tourism, projects the number of international visitors to U.S. reservations will rise to 2.4 million by 2020^.

What tangible business growth opportunities are there for operators and what will the impact on employment opportunities be across the industry? How can government and industry work together to better understand the concept of experience economy and experience design? How can tourism businesses deepen their connections with destination experiences?

Join our panel of industry leaders to discuss how all players, in all sectors and at every level, can work cooperatively and collaboratively to achieve the most innovative, best-practice approach to tourism – what are the challenges and future opportunities?

On our panel of speakers:
  • The Honourable Kate Jones MP, Minister for Innovation and Tourism Industry Development and Minister for Cross River Rail, Queensland Government
