Gain more insight into maximising investment and strengthening Queensland’s sustainable energy infrastructure and how to adapt to rapidly changing requirements for businesses and communities.

What are the biggest challenges in making sustainable energy mainstream in Australia? What initiatives are helping make sustainable energy more integrated in the near future?

How do we ensure that our rich range of energy assets in the state and relatively new infrastructure, much of which is still state owned, is used to give competitive advantage to Queensland industry and communities, through secure and affordable electricity, to create jobs and opportunity particularly in the regions? Join our panel of experts on achieving this aim. What level of integrated planning might be required and how might that be achieved? How might storage assets, transmission assets as well as generation assets be planned and private investment incentivised?

Brad Hopkins, Director
KPMG Australia

Brad Hopkins is a Director at KPMG in Brisbane and has over 10 years international experience investing in commodities, clean energy and energy efficiency projects and companies. He has worked for Macquarie Bank in the UK as an investor and adviser to a range of clients in the UK, Ireland, China, Chile and South Africa. This work has included the development and construction of greenfield energy assets, debt and equity financing of existing assets, and the financing of energy efficiency programs within the public sector.

He has been an active contributor to policy across the energy sector in the UK and Australia and is currently an adviser to Queensland’s Renewable Energy Expert Panel and to various energy companies in Australia. Brad has undertaken a Master of Science focused on energy policy design at the London School of Economics.


Jennifer Purdie, Chief Executive Officer
ADANI AUSTRALIA RENEWABLES

Jenny Purdie is CEO of Adani Australia Renewables, working to build and lead a new Renewable Energy business in Australia. Jenny has joined Adani from her most recent role at Aurizon, as Executive Vice President - Enterprise Services.

Jenny's career began as a Process Engineer for the Altona Petrochemical Company, then moving into a number of technical and operational roles with Rio Tinto Aluminum. For the past 17 years, Jenny has worked across senior operational roles in the resources industry, including General manager of the Point Henry Smelter for Alcoa, General Manager of Business Improvement and Global Practice Leader for Technology Delivery in the Innovation function for Rio Tinto.

Jenny holds an Executive MBA from the Mt Eliza Business School, as well as a PhD in Engineering from the University of Auckland.


Greg Jarvis, Executive General Manager - Energy Supply and Operations
ORIGIN ENERGY


Greg Jarvis joined Origin in 2002 as Electricity Trading Manager and was appointed General Manager, Wholesale, Trading and Business Sales in February 2011.

Greg is responsible for Wholesale, Trading, Business Energy, Solar, Generation and LPG.

Holding 19 years experience in the financial market industry, with 14 years experience in energy markets, Greg began his career in the banking industry in Australia before moving overseas to work. He has a Masters in Applied Finance and a Bachelor of Business.


Susan Mallan, Energy Industry Adviser

Susan Mallan brings more than 25 years’ experience in the energy sector to her key advisory roles on multiple renewable energy developments across Australia. She is highly regarded by listed, privately owned and Government corporations for her ability to successfully deliver projects, to create and lead motivated teams and to manage operational risks and identify opportunities.

A qualified mechanical and petroleum engineer with a Masters in Business Administration, Susan began her career as a field engineer with global services and technology company, Schlumberger Oilfield Services. She has since worked extensively across Australia, the Middle East, Indonesia, North America and Europe. This breadth of experience has enabled Susan to become adept at leading through technological change and company growth periods as global energy has, and continues to, evolve.

Susan holds a Company Directors Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a member of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency Advisory Panel, QUT’s Science and Engineering Faculty Academic Board, UNSW’s School of Petroleum Engineering Industry Advisory Board and the Women in Mining & Resources Queensland Committee.


Kristin Devitt, Managing Director
KDPR


Kristin has forged a successful career spanning more than 20 years as a broadcast journalist and communications strategist, and since founding KDPR in 2003, has become a trusted advisor to leaders in business, government and the professions on all aspects of communication.

Kristin is well known for her strategic nous and ability to problem solve and build brands and she loves working with decision-makers who are prepared to think outside the box on communications strategy. Her investment in the success of her clients has allowed her to build long-lasting, trusted relationships with some of Queensland’s most influential individuals and organisations.

Change management, place making, launches, mergers, advocacy, reputation, digital presence and creative development are her particular areas of interest. Highly skilled in reputation management and crisis communications, Kristin is also in-demand as a media trainer and public speaking coach, and is a regular guest speaker, facilitator and MC at Brisbane business and fundraising events, and a regular panelist on ABC Radio Brisbane.

The Office of Women (Queensland) named Kristin as one of ten women in the 1990s to have contributed in a significant way to Queensland as part of the Q150 celebrations. She has held several Board and Committee roles including Women in Media Queensland, La Boite Theatre Company, the National Board of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) and Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce Qld (AICC).

Kristin is a champion for change, particularly on the subject of gender equality, and is an outspoken advocate for the empowerment of women.
