Melbourne Innovation Mission 

Look Behind the Scenes of Australia's Premium Biomedical Research Precinct and Make Valuable New Connections! 

The Melbourne Biotech precinct is a powerhouse for medical research, education, drug development, diagnosis and patent treatment. The precinct brings together hospitals, universities, research organizations and health care partners. Visiting this precinct you will have the opportunity to talk to the experts first hand and discuss how highly influential research can lead to long term improvements in disease, diagnosis and treatment.

ITINERARY
Spend a full day with AmCham as we visit Australia’s Premium Biomedical Research Precinct and look behind the scenes, meet the researchers and make new connections.  Site visits include:

Murdoch Children's Research Institute
Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) is the largest child health research institute in Australia and one of the top five worldwide. They have more than 1900 talented researchers dedicated to making discoveries to prevent and treat childhood conditions. Researching health conditions that include diabetes, allergies, asthma, premature birth and mental health problems in children.

Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre
Australia's first Comprehensive Cancer Centre is a collaboration that aims to save lives through the integration of cancer research, education & patient care to create a world-class centre of excellence

Walter Elisa Hall Institute
The institute, established in 1915, is Australia’s oldest medical research institute and is home to more than 70 research groups which focus on cancer, infectious diseases and immune disorders. Their strength is to take fundamental research into disease and positively change health outcomes through translation of the research into improved diagnosis and treatment. 

Lunch with Researchers and PHD students 
Enjoy a networking lunch and meet some of the people that make the precinct special.

CSL Behring Broadmeadows Manufacturing Facility
CSL Behring Broadmeadows is a state of the art manufacturing facility producing biopharmaceutical  products for global health markets. CSL is a global leader in therapies derived from human plasma, these products are used in the treatment of serious medical conditions such as bleeding disorders, immune deficiencies, neurological conditions and in emergency critical care situations.  Over 900 employees work at the Broadmeadows facility which produces more than 15 different plasma products.   

This full day of exciting visits will give you unparalleled opportunity to make new connections and and see behind the scenes at Australia's premium biomedical research precinct.
