In the 12 months to December 2016, the Financy Women's Index, a report on women's economic progress in Australia, improved 4.1 points to 106.2 points, as the number of women occupying corporate board positions rose and the disparity between average earnings fell to its lowest in five years. But the same report puts the average superannuation balance of women, as measured across all life stages, at 30 per cent less than the average male balance.
