Moderator: Chris Hockings
Chief Technology Officer - IBM Security Asia Pacific
Chris Hockings is the CTO for IBM Security Asia Pacific. He represents the IBM global security strategy and vision to the geography, and in doing so engages with leaders across government, industry and partnerships. Chris has been a leader across all facets of software, including global research and development, support, service and market engagement. He is an IBM Master Inventor, a title that reflects a sustained contribution to IBM Security's patent portfolio. Chris is also a certified information systems security professional (CISSP).
Panellist: Mark Anderson
National Security Officer (NSO / CSO) - Microsoft Australia & New Zealand
Mark has over 29 years’ experience in the IT industry with 19 of those at Microsoft in various roles across the globe. As the National Security Officer for Microsoft Australia & New Zealand, Mark is responsible for working with governments, industry regulators, customers and partners, to ensure that the Microsoft platforms are not only understood by policymakers but also adhere to their security, compliance and risk management requirements. Mark’s remit also includes being accountable for the PROTECTED level assessments of Microsoft cloud platforms, and facilitating threat intelligence sharing relationships with government agencies.
Mark holds a Master of Cyber Security degree with high distinction from Edith Cowan University and is a Adjunct Fellow at Macquarie University.

Head of Cyber Security, Asia-Pacific - Verizon Enterprise Solutions
 
John Hines is the Head of Cyber-Security at Verizon where he leads a team of highly specialised security experts in delivering cutting edge security solutions to Verizon’s enterprise and Government customers across the Asia-Pacific region.
A Verizon veteran, he was formerly Managing Director where he was responsible for delivering global communications, IT and security solutions to Verizon’s enterprise customers in South East Asia, India and North Asia. He has also served as General Manager for Verizon’s Federal Government business in Australia.
John brings more than 23 years of experience in IT solutions and security expertise. He has also held various leadership roles with PwC, Trustwave, and Cybertrust.
Panellist: Katherine Mansted
Executive Director Cyber Intelligence - CyberCX
Katherine Mansted is the Executive Director of Cyber Intelligence CyberCX. She’s also a Senior Fellow at the Australian National University’s National Security College where she lectures in cyber security, intelligence and foreign interference. Katherine is a national security commentator and thought leader, often featured across national radio, TV and print media, and she has testified before several parliamentary committees. A former fellow at Harvard’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and the German Marshall Fund of the United States, Katherine previously practiced as a commercial solicitor with King & Wood Mallesons, served as a judge’s associate in the High Court of Australia, and worked as a ministerial adviser in the Australian Government.

Partner Security, Financial Services Lead - KPMG Australia
Natasha brings over 15 years‘ experience leading large-scale technology, risk and cyber transformation in the financial services sector globally. She specialises in developing business-aligned security strategies that focus on cyber resilience, risk reduction and regulatory compliance. Natasha leverages her skills as a certified Program Leader to assess the people and change impact of security solutions and services, assessing current state cyber maturity using established frameworks. She has deep expertise in prioritising solutions to reduce risk, defining an approach that meets the long-term business, security, risk and compliance goals of the client. Prior to joining KPMG, Natasha held multiple leading roles for global financial services companies and industry regulators.
Panellist: Joe Smith
Acting Deputy National Cyber Security Coordinator - Australian Department of Defence
Joe Smith is the Assistant Secretary of the Cyber Security Response Coordination Unit (CSRCU), within the National Office of Cyber Security.
The CSRCU supports the National Cyber Security Coordinator to coordinate the response to nationally significant cyber security incidents. The CSRCU works collaboratively with Commonwealth agencies leading technical incident responses, law enforcement operations, emergency management activities, government service delivery, and regulatory activities. It also works with state and territory departments and agencies responding to incidents impacting their jurisdictions. The CSRCU develops plans and conducts exercises to enable the Australian Government to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the consequences of cyber incidents.
Prior to establishing the CSRCU in December 2022, Joe worked in the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre (CISC). At the CISC, Joe managed cyber security functions focused on implementing the cyber security regulatory frameworks established in amendments to the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018. These frameworks included mandatory cyber security incident reporting and enhanced cyber security obligations for critical infrastructure assets declared as Systems of National Significance. Joe also managed crisis response functions focused on responding to significant cyber security incidents impacting critical infrastructure (including the administration of the Government Assistance Measures regime).
Prior to working in the CISC, Joe led a cyber-security policy function focused on strategic policy responses to malicious cyber activity impacting Australia and strategic engagement with international partners. Joe joined the Department of Home Affairs in 2020 and led a branch covering a range of online harms policy issues, including cybercrime, child exploitation, and online terrorism and violent extremism.
Joe has extensive experience in national security, cyber security and cyber-crime, having previously held several strategic and operational roles in law enforcement agencies in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Joe joined the Australian Public Service in 2008 as a Graduate in the Department of Defence.
