Bunnings is the leading retailer of home improvement and outdoor living products in Australia and New Zealand and a major supplier to project builders, commercial tradespeople and the housing industry.

Operating from a network of large warehouse stores, smaller format stores, trade centres and frame and truss sites, Bunnings caters for consumer and commercial customers.

Prior to joining Wesfarmers in 1997, John Gillam pursued a successful career in corporate recovery and corporate finance at KPMG and was General Manager of Medical Corporation Australia Ltd.

John has held several roles at Wesfarmers. He commenced in a commercial role in business development, then became Chief Financial Officer of Bunnings, followed by Company Secretary of Wesfarmers Limited and Managing Director of CSBP. John was appointed Managing Director of the Home Improvement division in mid 2004 and that role expanded into his current position in November 2007.

John holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia, has completed the program for executive development at IMD in Switzerland and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. He is a director of a number of Wesfarmers Group subsidiaries, Deputy Chairman of the Australian National Retailers Association, a member of the Board of the Heartwell Foundation and a member of World Vision's Business Advisory Council.
