QR National was the largest IPO in Australia in a decade when it went to market in November 2010, following the controversial privatisation by the Queensland Government.

QR National’s operations span the east coast of Australia and west to Perth, with a heritage of 145 years.
QR National's business is 80 per cent leveraged to the Australian resources sector with a significant focus on coal and iron ore haulage in Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia.
In 2010/11, QR National transported more than 240 million tonnes of freight.
It operates and manages the 2300 kilometre Central Queensland coal network, the largest coal rail network in the country, that links mines to coal ports at Bowen, Mackay and Gladstone.
QR National’s specialised engineering, construction and maintenance services are among the largest in the southern hemisphere.
Lance Hockridge is the Managing Director & CEO of QR National, Australia’s largest rail freight company.
Lance joined QR as Chief Executive Officer in November 2007 with more than 30 years’ experience in transportation and heavy industrial sectors in Australia and the United States with BHP and BlueScope Steel.
In 2010, QR National was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange after one of Australia’s largest and most successful IPOs in more than a decade.
Lance played a leading role in QR National’s preparations for the IPO, overseeing structural separation and the Company through the transition from government to private ownership.
