Niels Marquardt , CEO , American Chamber of Commerce in Australia
Niels Marquardt started as CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AmCham) on October 15, 2013. He is a former American diplomat with decades of experience promoting international trade and investment.

His final diplomatic assignment was as U.S. Consul General in Sydney, 2010-2013. During a 34-year State Department career, Niels also served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Madagascar and the Union of the Comoros (2007 - 2010), to the Republic of Cameroon (2004 – 2007), and to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea (2004 – 2006). In three of those countries, Niels helped found and launch new AmCham chapters.
General Manager
Alicia Doherty , General Manager - QLD , American Chamber of Commerce in Australia
Alicia joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AmCham) as QLD General Manager in 2017. She’s held business relationship and event management positions with Austrade, Events NSW, and Canberra CBD Ltd, and worked with the QLD Department of Premier and Cabinet on their 2016 Innovation and Investment Summit. Alica served on the board of The American Club, was President of the ACT Australian American Association, and served on the advisory committee of the Canberra Theatre Centre. Alicia has coordinated several multicultural events with the ACT government, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy and Canberra Diplomatic Corps.

Alicia began her career in the US Army (Aviation), and completed her studies at the University of Southern Queensland. She’s a member of the National Press Club and the Australian Institute of Export. She has called Australia home since 1994 and holds dual citizenship.

Ray Doyle , General Manager - VIC , American Chamber of Commerce in Australia
Ray Doyle joined the American Chamber of Commerce in 2010 as General Manager for Victoria responsible for promoting economic activity and developing member relationships in Victoria.

Ray Doyle has extensive business management and industry experience with international manufacturing organisations including Hewlett Packard, Motorola, Australian General Electric, NEC and the Gribbles Group.

In 2005 Ray joined the Victorian Government in the position of Executive Director for the Office of Manufacturing and Service Industries. The office works with Invest Victoria to deliver investment, and export programs.

Ray holds a Bachelor of Engineering, Majoring in Electronics and an MBA from Monash University.

Robert Hossary , General Manager - NSW & ACT , American Chamber of Commerce in Australia
Robert Hossary was appointed as the General Manager NSW / ACT for the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AmCham) in August of 2011. Mr. Hossary is responsible for the day to day operations of AmCham in NSW and the ACT as well as being the secretary of AmCham’s Trade and Government (TAG) and the Chamber’s Women in Leadership (WIL) Committees.

His career in Australia has spanned several industries including Technology, Transport, Fashion and Healthcare. He was involved in the 1992 (Barcelona) &1996 (Atlanta) Olympic Games as an Australian Olympic Sponsor. He worked in the USA for a technology manufacturer and in May 2008 was named in VSR Magazine’s 1st Annual Review & Outlook as a business leader in the USA’s Mobility Industry. Robert has also worked in Taiwan with responsibility for Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Bernadette Sewer , General Manager - SA , American Chamber of Commerce in Australia
Bernadette joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AmCham) as SA General Manager in 2017. She is a passionate South Australian who brings over 20 years’ experience in communications, public relations, marketing, and event management, as well as operations in the corporate, media, international trade, and not-for-profit spheres.

Bernadette has spent seven out of the past ten years in the United States of America, and she has worked for iconic American brands including McGraw-Hill Publications and Levi Strauss & Co. She also has experience working in the office of the Australian Ambassador to the United States in Washington, D.C.

Penelope Williamson , General Manager - WA & NT , American Chamber of Commerce in Australia
Penelope Williamson was appointed as the General Manager of the American Chamber of Commerce in Western Australia on the 19th June 1995. Her role was expanded to encompass the Northern Territory in 2008.

One of her most successful initiatives includes developing the concept and organising all facets of a State and Federal Government endorsed National Trade Mission to the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas. After the success of the first delegation in 1999, the OTC is an annual event for AmCham members, with representation from companies throughout Australia. Penelope is Project Manager for all AmCham Trade Missions, including O&G, Mining and Defence.

Prior to joining AmCham, Penelope’s career encompassed international trade and marketing, with an emphasis on Japan. Her knowledge of the language, protocol and etiquette required her to forge on-going business relationships at the highest level, resulting in the formation of 2 companies, to deal with Japan.
